Rollover car accidents can often result in deadly consequences

When driving under the influence and at fast speeds on the highway, drivers often are not able to adequately adjust speed when making lane changes or exiting the roadway. When a sudden shift occurs, drivers are prone to over-correct their driving, which can make rollover car accidents likely at high speeds. Recently, a man from Texas caused a rollover crash on an Illinois highway, which resulted in the death of his passenger.

According to reports, the 29-year-old man was driving his sedan southbound on I-294 in Illinois at around 4:15 a.m. on September 5. He apparently attempted to exit the highway onto 95th street in Chicago, but ended up running off the road. The vehicle then proceeded to roll down the exit’s embankment, eventually landing on another on-ramp to the highway.

During the course of the accident, the man’s 30-year-old passenger was ejected from the vehicle. Authorities report that he died at the scene of the crash. The driver of the sedan required manual extrication from the car and was taken in severe condition to Christ Medical Center located in Oak Lawn. After medical treatment, the man was booked into Cook County jail under suspicion of DUI. He recently was able to post 10 percent of the $50,000 bail, and was released from custody.

Surviving family members of Illinois victims involved in similar fatal car accidents could benefit from contacting an attorney who is experienced in personal injury law and litigation. Many expenses can result from such a tragic event that are unexpected, such as medical bills, funeral costs, loss of wages and other financial obligations.  Attorneys with experience in dealing with personal injury cases will be in the best position to guide family members through this difficult time, and discuss the various legal options available for loved ones to seek financial reparations.
