Westville, Illinois Police responded to a scene involving a car careening into a labor day crowd in the early morning hours on September 7, 2015. The car accident rattled the citizens of Westville, leaving them with questions.
Crowds gathered to celebrate Labor Day near Champagne, Illinois, but no one expected what happened next. Witnesses describe a car barreling into a crowded sidewalk, injuring eleven people in its path. The most significant injury was a skull fracture to a 2-year-old child.
Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the accident or why the 61-year old driver plowed into the crowd. Fortunately for the crowd of people, ambulances were taking part in the parade and were able to change course to help those injured.
