Police in Illinois have announced that a man who was involved in a fatal crash while riding his motorcycle is now going to face charges for driving under the influence. The person who was killed was the passenger on his bike when the wreck occurred. She was 43 years old.
The crash happened on Illinois Route 114, and it was close to 17000E Road. A 34-year-old man was driving the bike, which was a Harley-Davidson. He reportedly slammed into the back of another motorcycle, causing them both to wipe out. It does not appear that any other vehicles were involved.
The man on the other motorcycle suffered from serious injuries as a result. He had to be taken to an area hospital for treatment. He is from Tinley Park, and he is 50 years old.
The driver who allegedly caused the accident was also hospitalized in the wake of the crash. Police say that he was driving while he was under the influence, but they say that he is also going to face charges for failing to slow down to avoid the accident.
However, it is worth noting that they are still carrying out the investigation to determine exactly why the bikes collided and what happened leading up to the wreck.
The family members of those who have been killed in drunk driving accidents have to know what rights they still have, even as they are working to get through the emotional turmoil surrounding the loss of a loved one. They could have rights to compensation because of that loss or for medical bills.
