A crash in Chicago, Illinois, has taken one life and left five other people with various injuries. It appears that it was a single-car accident, but it is still important for the families of those involved to know what legal rights they have to seek compensation if one of their loved ones was killed because of the actions of the driver of the vehicle. Fatal car accident cases like this can be complicated, which is why taking the time to look into all of the details and legal options is so crucial.
This crash happened near the intersection for Kenton Avenue and North Avenue about 4:30 a.m. The vehicle involved was an SUV, and all six people appear to have been riding in it together. That SUV left the roadway and rammed into a pole.
The police from Chicago who are looking into the crash say that the SUV appears to have been going east before the crash. This was on North Avenue. For some reason, the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle. Police are not entirely sure why, as the investigation into the cause is ongoing.
After the accident, two young men got out of the vehicle on their own. One is 18 and the other is 25. They then walked to get medical help, going to West Suburban Hospital.
Four young women were still stuck in the car, however. Two of them were transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital, and one is 19 years old. Another woman, who is 18 years old, was taken to Stroger Hospital. The oldest woman in the car, who was 24 years old, was taken over to Norwegian Hospital, but she passed away from her injuries.
