Man dies in late-night car crash in Illinois

One man is dead after a late-night car accident that took place at around 1:45 a.m. in Illinois. He was driving a pickup truck down the Edens Expressway when a small, white coupe came up behind him. The coupe rammed into the back of the pickup truck, and the truck driver first veered off to the right and then lost control of his vehicle. It flipped and rolled twice before coming to a halt.

The man in the truck suffered massive brain injuries, and he passed away as a result of them. The man in the coupe that hit him, an Audi that only holds two passengers, had merely minor injuries, and he was treated for them at the hospital.

Both cars were totally destroyed in the wreck, taking over a large portion of the highway and causing officers to have to close it off for six hours. It did not open back up until around 7:30 in the morning.

Police are now investigating the incident to find out what exactly caused the crash in the first place. There have been no reports of drugs or alcohol being used at this time, though it is too soon for toxicology reports.

Whenever there is a fatal car accident, the family of the deceased needs to know who was at fault. Not only can this help to give them closure, but, it can allow them to see if they are eligible for a wrongful death lawsuit. They may be able to claim things such as the cost of the funeral, the medical expenses and the lost wages, especially if the person who was killed was the sole income for the family.
