Driver who killed elderly woman accused of drug use

Authorities have accused an 18-year-old motorist involved in an accident that killed a 65-year-old woman of having drugs in his system at the time of the accident. He has been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, as well as aggravated DUI causing a death. The dead woman was a resident of Niles, Illinois, while the driver lives in the Des Plaines area.

Moving companies sued for state trooper’s death in truck crash

Two moving companies and a truck driver are facing a lawsuit by the surviving widow of an Illinois state trooper who died when a truck hit his parked car and caused it to burst into flames. The lawsuit contends that the truck driver dozed off while driving. The 26-year-old male trucker also faces criminal charges in which the prosecution claims that he worked a 12-hour shift before getting behind the wheel of his semi on the Tri-State Tollway on the date of the fatal truck accident.

Chicago man arrested in fatal DUI

A 26-year-old Chicago man was arrested in connection with a crash on the Eisenhower Expressway that ended the lives of two women in another vehicle. He remains incarcerated after being able to post $350,000 in bail set by a court. Police said that he had taken drugs and was also drunk at the time of the accident that caused the wrongful deaths. He was charged for the two deaths on the basis of the drugs and the alcohol.

Elevator worker crushed to death; family holds resort responsible

Chicagoans who work in areas where there is the potential for danger have the right to assume that proper safety precautions have been taken by the appropriate people. Sadly, that assumption is not always an accurate one, and tragic consequences can result. Last April, a Florida man who was cleaning an elevator shaft at the TradeWinds Island Resort in St. Pete Beach was killed when the elevator car fell multiple floors and crushed him where he was working at the bottom of the shaft removing water and oil.

Wrongful death claimed for pedestrian killed by truck

Damages are sought for the wrongful death of a female pedestrian struck down by a speeding semi-tractor trailer owned by a company. The fatal truck accident occurred at the northwest corner of the intersection of Clay and Morton in Jacksonville, Illinois. The lawsuit names the truck driver, as well as the company and company owner, as defendants.
